Error description

  • Attempting to DELETE shared ts queues using CICS Explorer
    fails with:

CNX0612E Error attempting to delete shared ts queue
    CNX0599E: RESPONSE(NODATA)
If you use the WUI to delete a shared TS queue, it is
    successful.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When deleting a Shared TS Queue, CICS Explorer uses the name as
a primary key, however the name can be binary and is subject to
translation from EBCDIC. This means that characters might be
present which aren't mappable into ASCII. In this situation
multiple different Shared TS Queues can match the same delete
    query.

Problem conclusion

  • A Shared TS Queue Hexname field has been added which contains
the binary name of the Shared TS Queue converted to hex. This is
a unique primary key to ensure that only the intended Shared TS
    Queue is deleted.
    .
To ensure that Shared TS Queues cannot be deleted
unintentionally and to preserve data integrity, this version of
CICS Explorer prevents Shared TS Queues from being deleted
unless the fix of CICS Transaction Server APAR PH14288 is in
place which allows safe deletion by hexname.
    .
This is an extension to the fix provided by APAR IJ07403 in
Version 5.4.0.12 of the CICS Explorer.
    .
This fix will be made available in Version 5.4.0.16 and Version
    5.5.0.4 of the CICS Explorer.
