APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Maximo crashes when printing an SR or WO (Ticketprint of
    Woprint) in case images or forms have been pasted in the long
    description of the SR or WO.
    Any follow-on prints get stuck in the queue and the only
    solution is to restart the server.
    Customer used MS Outlook email message with image to
    reproduce the issue.
    STEPS TO REPLICATE:
    Customer also tested on the IBM 7.6.0.8 Preview site :

    - Go to Work Order Tracking application
    - Create a new Work Order with a picture pasted from MS Word /
    MS Outlook email message, into the Long Description.
    - Click the icon: Print Work Order Details at the top of the
    screen
    - Go to Report Administration > View Report Processing and note
    that this report is still active at this very moment:
    Note, if you run the report as immediate task, the embedded
    picture is visible in report output of Birt Report Viewer.
    Note from IBM Maximo development on issue:
    We use BIRT to generate and convert report to pdf. Direct print
    uses pdf file. As BIRT is not IBM software we do not have lot
    of control on fixing problems.
    This APAR will address the issue in following way:
    While generating report in other format like pdf, we will not
    pass the images in long description to the pdf report. That
    will ensure that the server will not crash. But images in Long
    Description will not appear in Direct Print or pdf report. Also
    images in Long Description will not get printed when using
    Direct Print.
