Error description

  • In the PM application if you select more than about 80 PMs and
    try to Forecast them in the background you get an error like
    this:
    MXAA4049E - The value specified exceeds the maximum field
    length that is allowed for this attribute: Value = (siteid=
    'BD' and pmnum= 'BEDPM2' ) or (siteid= 'BD' and pmnum= 'BED...,
    Object Name=MAXASYNCJOB, Attribute Name=WHERECLAUSE, Maximum
    Length=4,000.
    The problem is that when Maximo builds the
    MAXASYNCJOB.WHERECLAUSE  like this:
    (siteid= 'BD'  and pmnum= 'BEDFORDPM2' ) or (siteid= 'BD'  and
    pmnum= 'BEDFORDPM3' ) or .......
    each PM takes about 50 characters so the 4000 character limit
    its size is only good for about 80 PMs. You want to use the
    background when you have lots of PMs, hundreds or a thousand or
    2 which exactly when you cannot use it.
    The same selection of PMs on the List tab will Forecast
    correctly as long as you do not check the "Run Forecast
    Generation in the Background?" checkbox.
    Steps to reproduce:
    WARNING: There are not enough PMs in Maxdemo to reproduce
    this. There are only about 36 PMs there. You will need about
    100 to reproduce the problem. More if the PMNUMs are short
    (PM1 is short, PMFORECAST001 is long (the client who reported
    this increased the length of PMNUM from the default of 8 to
    18)). With 8 character PMNUMs you will need about 110-120.
    1. Setup a large number of PMs as discussed above.
    2. On the List tab in PM select all of them.
    3. From the More Actions menu choose Generate Forecast.
    4. On the dialog that comes up saying, "This action affects all
       nnn records...."   click OK.
    5. On the Generate Forecast dialog:
    5a. Set the Forecast For field to 100
    5b. Check the "Run Forecast Generation in the Background?"
    checkbox.
    5c. Enter a valid email address in the "Notification E-mail for
    Forecast Generation:" It may take 10 or 20 seconds for it to
    become editable.
    Now you will see the error message show above.
