Error description

  • Customers using custom thresholds in DB2 LUW (defined by IBM
support using the CREATE THRESHOLD command) may experience a
sudden crash of the IDAA Server if the threshold is exceeded.
The issue is accompanied by the following messages:
    - "SQL4712N The activity or request was stopped because the
      threshold has been exceeded."
    - DSNX881I ... System went from state 'UNKNOWN' to 'ONLINE'
      ...

After the crash the accelerator will restart automatically. The
accelerator status will switch to 'OFFLINE' for a few minutes
and will change to 'ONLINE' again.

The issue affects the accelerator maintenance level 7.5.4.2 and
    the preceding ones.

A fix will be delivered with maintenance level 7.5.5.1.
A hotfix is available for maintenance level 7.4.5.2.

Local fix

  • As a short-term remedy, the only way to prevent the issue is to
    drop the threshold definition.

Problem summary

  • Customers affected:
Customers for whom IBM support has applied thresholds in Db2wh.

    Problem summary:
If a custom threshold has been defined in DB2 LUW and if this
threshold will be exceeded (accompanied by message "SQL4712N The
activity or request was stopped because the threshold has been
exceeded."), the processing of this situation will result in an
    invalid memory access.
This may lead to an abnormal termination of the accelerator
    server or other symptoms
tied to the underlying memory corruption.

The fix for this bug has been delivered with accelerator
    maintenance level 7.5.5.1.
A hotfix is available for maintenance level 7.5.4.2.

Problem conclusion

  • Upgrade your accelerator maintenance level to 7.5.5.1 or higher.
