Error description

  • Using IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator Studio a refresh of the
accelerator view may lead to error message
"An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x0) was found in the value
of attribute "application" and element is "clientInfo"."
In this situation no queries will be displayed in the Query
    Monitoring View.
The issue only occurs if the client account information passed
to Db2 for z/OS upon invocation (e.g. using jdbc) contains
    characters not being valid XML.
The issue will be fixed with accelerator maintenance level
    7.5.2.2.

Problem summary

  • JDBC and ODBC have got interfaces to set values for accounting
information such as client user name/application
name/workstation name. These accounting values are sent to DB2
for z/OS z which conveys them to the accelerator.
Working with the Accelerator View in IBM DB2 Analytics
Accelerator Studio triggers stored procedure ACCEL_GET_QUERIES
which will return the accounting values as part of an XML
    data structure.
If the acccounting information contains valid UTF8 characters
which are not permitted in XML1.0 documents, the error message
"An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x0) was found in the
    value of attribute..." will occur.

The fix for this issue sanitizes the accounting information
    before ACCEL_GET_QUERIES returns it.
The fix is part of accelerator maintenance level 7.5.2.2.

Problem conclusion

  • Upgrade your accelerator maintenance level to 7.5.2.2 or higher.
