Error description

  • In rare situations upgrading IDAA V7.1 on IIAS to maintenance
    level '7.1.9' may bring the system down.
    The IDAA maintenance level from where the upgrade was started is
    no longer operational.
    .
    From an IBM support point of view the insights into
    situation unveil the following:
    a) The kernel of the IIAS system was upgraded
    b) The subsequent upgrade of the GPFS (General Parallel File
    System) component failed.
    
    This version mix of kernel and GPFS requires manual intervention
    by IBM support.
    Attention:
    A restart of the appliance (apstop/apstart) will NOT heal the
    situation.
    .
    The underlying malfunction in the IIAS installation script was
    fixed and integrated into the new maintenance level 7.1.9.1.

Local fix

  • IBM support needs to perform a so-called essential upgrade to
    neither upgrade kernel nor GPFS.
