IV36691: POWERHA:CLXD_VERIFY_GENXD FAILS WHEN MULTIPLE XIV STORAGE AGENTS

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The cluster was initially configured to support two XIV
storage systems as an XD solution for remote inter-site
replication using XD mirror groups between the sites.
The cluster cannot be started up because the cluster
verification & synchronization fails with errors reported
by the clxd_verify_genxd script.
The errors similar to given below can be found
in the clverify.log file:

The problem occurs when more than one storage agent is
defined for a single XIV storage system. Another symptom
may be the clxd_main daemon failed and core dumped.

Local fix

  • There is a work-around to not use more than one storage
agent defined per a single XIV storage system.

Problem summary

  • Customer faced misleading errors.

Problem conclusion

  • Validation on number of agents for a storage server with proper
messages.
