Db2 BACKUP and RESTORE operations using NetBackup fail in Version 11.1 Mod Pack 4 Fixpack 4 (v11.1.4.4)

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

Starting in Db2 Version 11.1.4.4, Db2 BACKUP and RESTORE operations using the NetBackup (nbdb2.s064) library may fail with an SQL2079N error.

Content

In Db2 v11.1.4.4, Db2 BACKUP and RESTORE operations using the NetBackup (nbdb2.s064) library may fail with an SQL2079N, return code "30" error.
For example:
db2 => BACKUP DATABASE mydbname LOAD /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbdb2.so64 OPEN 4 SESSIONS BUFFER 1024
SQL2079N An error was reported by the shared library
"/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbdb2.so64". Return code: "30".

Please see APAR IT28021 for additional diagnostic details
https://www-01.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IT28021
The problem is caused by function name collisions between Db2 JSON support functions within the Db2 engine library (.../sqllib/lib64/libdb2e.so.1) and the open source JSON library (.../libjanssonST.so).
The fix will be included in a future Fix Pack (as of the time of this writing). Please reference the 'APAR Information' content at the bottom of the APAR description to determine the Fix Pack inclusive of the fix, which will be updated once it is available.
If you experience this failure, there is no workaround available which allows Db2 Backup or Restore operations to use the NetBackup library in Version 11.1.4.4.
