IBM Spectrum Control 5.2.9 and higher include enhancements that might require new certificates for resources that are managed by CIM agents. These resources are typically Brocade switches and non-IBM storage systems. Until new certificates are generated, IBM Spectrum Control will be unable to monitor those resources. The changes starting with IBM Spectrum Control 5.2.9 might also affect connections to older levels of IBM System Storage® DS8000 storage systems. Notes:

Fix Central is the IBM recommended site for retrieving fixes for most products. Fix Central enables customers to search, select, and download appropriate fixes for their situation.
Use the GNU tar program (1.14 or higher) rather than the native AIX tar program to extract files from the IBM Spectrum Control installation images. The AIX tar program can truncate long file names, which may cause errors with the IBM Spectrum Control application.

Prerequisites

IBM Spectrum Control V5.2.17 Fix Pack 2 can be applied as a new installation or as an upgrade to IBM Spectrum Control 5.2.x or Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.1.x and 5.2.x. The fix pack media does not include a license key. If you are applying this fix pack as an upgrade, your existing license will be transferred. If you are doing a new installation, a license is required and is included on Passport Advantage® Online.

Installation Instructions

To prepare for an upgrade or new installation:

Review the 5.2.17 limitations and known issues for IBM Spectrum Control technote prior to applying this fix pack. It contains last-minute information and changes that could not be included in the final product documentation.
If you are applying this fix pack as an upgrade, review the upgrade procedures in the IBM Spectrum Control Knowledge Center.
For a new installation, review the new installation procedures in the IBM Spectrum Control Knowledge Center.
