Error description

  • Managed file transfers to a destination protocol bridge agent
fail after the first file that gets transferred into the target
    directory.
The subsequent attempts to transfer files into the same
destination directory fail with the following error message:
BFGTR0072E: The transfer failed to complete due to the
exception : BFGBR0119E: Bridge agent was unable to create
                                 directory Home because Cannot
    create directory: /Home/Mars_MX_RE_UAT/Home exists

Trace shows that the protocol bridge agent is attempting to
create the same directory structure nested in the already
    existing directory structure.
    For example:
    	First pass creates:
    		/Home/UAT/In/
Second managed file transfer tries to create:
    		/Home/UAT/In/Home/UAT/In

Local fix

  • Check if the sftp user, setup in ProtocolBridgeCredentials has
permission to access /Home directory. If it does not, grant
the proper file permissions to the sftp user.
    on the sftp server

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of IBM MQ Managed File Transfer who
have protocol bridge agents that transfer files to file servers
    using the SFTP protocol.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When using a protocol bridge agent (PBA) as a destination agent
to transfer files to a file server using the SFTP protocol, two
issues would occur if the file server did not provide read and
execute permissions to a users home directory:

    - The first managed transfer into a subdirectory beneath the
user's home directory would be reported as "successful", even
though the location of the destination file was incorrect as the
PBA had incorrectly recreated the user's home directory path
within the home directory (for example, an attempt to transfer a
file into /Home/Username/Output would result in the file being
    created in the directory /Home/Username/Home/Username/Output).

    - Subsequent managed transfers that tried to transfer a file
into the same subdirectory would fail with an error similar to
    the one shown below:
"BFGTR0072E: The transfer failed to complete due to the
exception : BFGBR0119E: Bridge agent was unable to create
directory Home because Cannot create directory:
    /Home/UserName/Home exists"
as the PBA would be unable to create the user's home directory
    path within the home directory:

Problem conclusion

  • IBM MQ Managed File Transfer has been updated so that when a
protocol bridge agent is connecting to a file server using the
SFTP protocol and is acting as the destination agent for a
managed transfer, where the destination filename contains a
relative path, then the agent will create the destination file
path relative to the user's home directory on the SFTP server.
