Configure Screen Capturer

Question & Answer

Question

How to configure DOCLINKS or attachment folder for Screen Capturer?

Answer

In order to use Screen Capturer, user needs to configure DOCLINKS folder before able to capture screen in Create Service Request application and attach as an image file.

(a) Create a DOCLINK folder in the server.

AIX / LinuxWindows Server 2008
e.g. /home/DOCLINKS
In this folder, create following sub directories:-
e.g. /home/DOCLINKS/ATTACHMENTS
e.g. /home/DOCLINKS/DIAGRAMS
e.g. /home/DOCLINKS/IMAGES
e.g. C:\DOCLINKS
In this folder, create following sub directories:-
e.g. C:\DOCLINKS\ATTACHMENTS
e.g. C:\DOCLINKS\DIAGRAMS
e.g. C:\DOCLINKS\IMAGES
*Please make sure IMAGES folder is in uppercase.

(b) Edit the httpd.conf file on WebSphere Application Server:
- Back up the httpd.conf file.
(In Windows Server 2003, it is normally located in C:\Program Files\ibm\HTTPServer\conf)
- Open the httpd.conf file in a text editor. Find the section that begins with the following line:
# This should be changed to whatever you set DocumentRoot to
- Change the value to :-
AIXWindows Server 2008
e.g /home/DOCLINKSe.g. C:\DOCLINKS

(c) In TSRM application, configure the mxe.doclink.doctypes.defpath property.
- Go To -> System Configuration -> Platform Configuration -> System Properties
- Filter for mxe.doclink.doctypes.defpath
- Set the 'Global Value' to (Enter value and save) :-
AIXWindows Server 2008
e.g /home/DOCLINKSe.g. C:\DOCLINKS

(d) Restart HTTP server and MXServer.

As a summary, configuring Screen Capturer is similar to the steps in Setting up Attached Documents in Maximo with WebSphere.

However, it is important that when user configures Screen Capturer, mxe.doclink.doctypes.defpath must be defined and a directory IMAGES (IMAGES in uppercase) must be created in the defpath folder.
