The Evian Championship is returning in the summer months in order to celebrate their 25th anniversary. It will take place from July 25th to 28th, 2019. As a major tournament on the women's golf circuit (5th World Tournament and the only Major Continental European Tournament), it brings together 120 of the best players in the world and has growing international visibility.

Acting as a true technological showcase for our customers, IBM's sports partnerships are a way to develop new ideas and experiences. IBM France has been an official partner of this world tournament since the year 2000 and strives to create a unique event where each fan can have an unforgettable experience - whether they are following on site or watching live online.

This partnership also allows us to invite our clients to two separate events on the magnificent course of the Evian Resort Club.

  • The Official Rolex Pro-Am from Tuesday July 23rd to Thursday July 25th, 2019.
  • The Finale Weekend of "The Evian Championship" from Friday July 26th to Sunday July 28th, 2019.

Innovation Playground

The Evian Championship has recently become a showcase for selected start ups to display their technological innovation in relation to health and sports. Three years ago, Société Générale, The Evian Championship and IBM came together to launch the Innovation Playground. This offers a dedicated space within the Sponsors Village, providing great visibility to the startups with daily highlights lead by renowned speakers.

Since then, this initiative has been gaining momentum yearly and aims to mobilize different start-ups, ultimately selected for their ability to innovate and improve the experience of the diverse actors within the tournament.

The Evian Championship is a place of gathering and innovation; it acts as both a laboratory and showcase in the field of sport at the International level. IBM and its partners accompany the Major tournament to extend its policy “accelerator of success” whilst utilizing the start ups from the Scale Zone IBM France.

The startups selected this year by the jury of four partners:
IBM - Societe Generale - The Evian Championship – Danone are as following:

Using innovative technology to industrialize a new form of urban agriculture within cities: growing fruits and vegetables of high quality with minimal impact on the environment.

Enabling patients or their practitioners to categorize and access their health information from anywhere in the world.

Runnin' City

The combination of jogging and cultural visits, allowing runners to change their usual path or discover more while running, even when they are not at home.

Promoting sports in urban areas by offering connected stations and providing access to demonstrations by virtual coach and exercises.

We welcome back this year to share their experiences at the Innovation Playground: Connecting Food (a start up from the IBM Scale Zone) and Vogo. There will also be a success story from the IBM Scale Zone: Respire.

IBM Scale Zone

Scale Zone is the co-construction structure of IBM France, to help startups and large groups in the industrialization of their innovation projects. Scale Zone offers a win-win-win approach for startups, large-scale customers and IBM around a common project.

To hire

In order to strengthen the existing relationship between a startup and a large group, we support the project from the first contact to the final delivery.

Our synergies are our strengths! IBM supports start-up executives in all their technical needs to co-build the most relevant business solutions for their customers.

To activate the potential of a single value proposition to deliver a large-scale innovation project, a startup must be able to rely on proven skills and solutions.

In order to successfully industrialize start-up projects and companies hosted in the Scale Zone, IBM offers all the key success factors:

The value: enabling innovation to be deployed in companies in order to bring them an effective business value through the creation of new products or services or the transformation of existing business processes. For industrialization to be successful, the business model and the business case must lead to a favorable return on investment throughout the life cycle of the product or service.

"Scalability": the ability to deploy an innovative solution in a geographic area that may be France, Europe or even the world or a perimeter with high volume in terms of users. This, while meeting the criteria of performance essential to the appropriation and the effective use of the solution.

Security: to go to the industrial stage, it is imperative to take into account the sometimes-complex safety rules according to the sectors of activity as well as the needs of certifications and qualifications.

The support of change: the management of impacts on business processes and organizations are also elements to consider making an experiment a success in the real life of a company. The implementation of an innovative solution requires changes in skills, objectives and often organization in companies.
