We are in the midst of a technology shift driving growth and innovation. You can lead during this era of transition with IBM Power Systems.
IBM’s leading platform for Big Data can run SAP’s strategic in-memory database, delivering all the throughput, scalability, and reliability of Power to SAP HANA.
For customers seeking the real-time business benefits of SAP running in-memory, SAP HANA on IBM Power is an important new option. Just as clients have enjoyed the strong performance on traditional SAP on Power Systems, SAP HANA users can now take advantage of the throughput, bandwidth, and enterprise-grade reliability of IBM Power.
Part of the core code stream for SAP software offerings, the new IBM Power version uses all the same tools and concepts as SAP HANA on x86, yet takes advantage of established Power capabilities like higher clock speeds, advanced virtualization, and SMT-8 multithreading. With strong performance across the universe of Big Data applications, including IBM Watson, IBM Power is ideally suited for the large datasets and demanding processing needs of SAP HANA.
Initially available for SAP Business Warehouse, IBM Power support for the full SAP Business Suite is now available. Furthermore, IBM and SAP continue to partner closely on future plans, as we have for over 40 years, including SAP HANA S/4, the new product family announced by SAP in February 2015.
IBM Power Systems Solution Editions for SAP HANA
To make it easier for clients to start taking advantage of SAP HANA on IBM Power, IBM has introduced IBM Power Systems Solution Editions for SAP HANA. These predesigned “starter editions” represent minimum configurations for various SAP HANA database sizes and use cases. Unlike existing x86-based “appliances,” the IBM Power Systems Solution Editions for SAP HANA are completely customizable. Minimum and maximum ranges enable customers to start small and grow. As importantly, the virtualized nature of Power Systems allows customers to run multiple workloads including existing SAP applications.
Choose from a range of IBM POWER8 family systems, all competitively priced with legacy x86 options, yet offering superior throughput per core, along with the other well-known IBM Power advantages in reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS).
