What is TechU?

IBM Systems Technical University (TechU) events are 2 - 5 day conferences that provide deep technical training on IBM systems products and solutions for IBM systems clients and business partners. TechU events enable attendees to engage directly with IBM’s world-class expertise, game-changing technology, and each other. Come join us.

Who should attend TechU?

This conference is designed for IBM clients, IBM Business Partners and IBM employees who share a technical vision and curiosity. We recognize that innovation is more than just a job title and it thrives on constant change. Therefore, our sessions are meant for ALL roles from developers and architects, to engineers and IT professionals.

Questions about registration from attendees

How can I register for TechU and how much does it cost?

Visit the main event page for the TechU location that interests you. Click on the registration tab for details on pricing. To register, click on the "register now" link.

Can I register on-site at the TechU event?


What is included with full tuition?

You will receive access to all lectures, demos, labs, solution center, receptions, conference provided meals and applicable social events. Check your registration terms and conditions for details as every event is different. Travel and hotel are not included.

Do I have to register for sessions I want to attend?

You do not have to sign up ahead of the event for general sessions. Some sessions may require registration but if this is the case, you will be able to register for these during event registration. All sessions will be included in the TechU Agenda Guide mobile app. You will be able to create a personal agenda. The app typically goes live 7-10 business days prior to the event start. You will receive an email with sign in credentials as soon as it's available.

Will TechU help me justify my attendance to my boss?

Yes. We have drafted an email for you. Click on the main event page. In the far right column you will notice the Dear Boss link. (Download document, add location and date of the event before sending.)

I require a visa invitation letter. How do I get one?

Can I download TechU presentations?

Yes. Presentations are available to registered attendees. During the event, presentations are available to download using the TechU app. One week post event you will receive an email to access all presentations in zipped format.

Where can I see the Agenda for an upcoming TechU event?

Click on the event you are interested in attending. On the far right column you can view two categories - The Week at a Glance provides you a high level overview or you can click on Session Titles and Abstracts for further details about sessions and labs.

Can I bring my spouse/guest to evening activities?

All events provide different activities. Send an email:

Can I transfer my registration if I can no longer attend?

Substitutions are permitted at any time; replaced attendees will not be subject to registration fee cancellation penalties. Send an email to to request a substitution. You must register yourself to attend the event.

Any discounts for groups of attendees?

Pricing discounts vary by event. Please refer to the event’s website or contact your IBM sales representative for additional information.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Check the event website under the registration tab for the cancellation and refund policy.

Does TechU have a Mobile app?

Yes. To find it in the app stores, search for ibmtechu. All registered attendees will receive an email with their access credentials prior to the event start.

Who is eligible to present at TechU?

How do I get notified for upcoming "Call for Speakers”?

Do I get any discounts to present at TechU?

In some cases, IBM TechU will cover speaker travel, hotel and other living expenses. In other cases speakers may be entitled to tuition discounts or waivers.

I got my acceptance letter. Do I still need to register as an attendee?

Yes, all speakers must register as attendees and book their own travel and hotel.

What types of tracks and sessions can I expect?

IBM TechU offers sessions for IBM Systems including IBM Z, LinuxONE, IBM Power Systems and IBM Storage. These cover a variety of functional areas, such as security, performance and systems management.

Can submitters copy their submissions from previous events to new events?

Yes, submitters and primary speakers can copy submissions from a previous event and copy to a new event.

Use the View/Edit/Copy button on the main CMS screen: and select the event you want to copy FROM and then select the event to copy TO (select the event you wish to copy to).
