Getting started with this product
How is Db2 Data Management Console different from other monitoring tools?
The differences go well beyond just a new look and feel for the console. The new console is built on a new microservices architecture that provides open API access to every part of the user interface. This is more than just a pretty face; it is a new way to interact and build on the console.
Does the new Db2 Data Management Console do everything that Data Server Manager does today?
IBM plans to eventually support everything that Data Server Manager supports today. The initial GA supports monitoring, alerts, object management and security, running SQL and visualizing SQL access plans.
Do I have to remove my current Data Server Manager installation to use the new Db2 Data Management Console?
No, there is an upgrade path from 2.1.5 to 3.1. You can choose an in-place upgrade or you can make a copy of your current Db2 Data Server Manager 2.1.5 installation and then upgrade it without disrupting your Data Server Manager production system.
There is no charge or up-sell cost for any of the functions and features that are part of the Db2 Data Management Console. It is available as a free download from IBM Developer. Support is provided for anyone with a valid Db2 license entitlement.
Can I still use Data Server Manager 2.1.5 now that the Db2 Data Management Console is available?
Yes, Data Server Manager is still in support. However, the planned end of support for Db2 Linux, UNIX and Windows is April 2021.
What happened to the Db2 Performance Management offering?
The Performance Management offering reached End of Marketing with Db2 Version 11.5. You can now use Data Server Manager 2.1.5 Enterprise features with both Db2 Version 11.5 Advanced and Standard editions.
