IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud Enterprise is a scalable solution that helps you create and run your workflows in the cloud. This solution is based on a monthly subscription; you can add more environments or storage as your needs grow, with the capacity and cost  determined by the number of concurrent users.

What is IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud Express?

IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud Express offers an entry point for businesses to get started in the cloud. This solution provides a development and runtime environment that can support a smaller number of users and can be converted to an Enterprise configuration as your needs change.

Does IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud have the same capabilities as the on-premises version?

Yes. The Express Edition on Cloud has the same capabilities as Business Automation Workflow Express, and the Enterprise Express Edition on Cloud has the same capabilities as Business Automation Workflow Enterprise.

Is the product available on the Digital Business Automation for Multicloud (DBAMC) environment?

Yes, IBM Business Automation Workflow is an entitled offering in this environment. You can deploy different DBAMC offerings by purchasing the product through the DBAMC license. You can change as your needs grow and also trade up from Business Automation Workflow to DBAMC.

What is a user?

A user is anyone with access to the IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud service — concurrent users or authorized users. This includes authors or designers, testers, administrators and individuals who have access to the service. Users in your account are tracked on the Admin tab of the portal.

Can I purchase an on-premise version of this product?

Yes. If you want to install, configure and manage the platform yourself and pay a lower yearly service charge, you can choose on premises or any cloud of your choice.

Is this product available as a service?

Yes. There is a new combined IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud offering that combines the capabilities of the separate SaaS offerings from IBM Business Process Manager on Cloud with the capabilities of IBM Case Manager on Cloud. With this approach, you get a monthly service over a specific term, with no capital expenditure, provisioned for you in the IBM Cloud™.

Where do I store my business data?

IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud is considered a system of interaction and not a system of record, so this IBM offering is not generally used for storage of business data. For the business databases that hold the data you use or modify in the tasks, you can use the database of your choice.

Is IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud secure?

Yes, it is built on the IBM Cloud IaaS virtual public cloud platform. It is not multi-tenant, so each customer has a separate dedicated instance of IBM Business Automation Workflow on Cloud. Each instance is contained within a private VLAN and is made by using an encrypted SSL connection.

Where can I find IBM business process management (BPM) and case management solutions?

IBM business process management and case management capabilities are now part of IBM Business Automation Workflow, combined into one workflow solution.
