IBM Applauds Passage of House Supercomputing Innovation Bill
May 20,2015

IBM today addressed the importance of legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that would further America’s technology leadership by advancing supercomputing resaerch and development.

BM today issued the following statement commending the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 874, the American Super Computing Leadership Act of 2015:

“With passage of this legislation, the United States is one step closer to building a new generation of high-performance computers that will tackle the challenges of tomorrow and preserve our country’s lead in the global race to innovate.

Its infusion of research and development funding will unlock new scientific discoveries with the potential to reshape society for years to come.

We applaud House Science, Space and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith and Representative Randy Hultgren for guiding this bill to passage, and for recognizing the crucial role supercomputers play in meeting America’s national security, scientific and health care needs.

We also commend Senator Lamar Alexander for advancing companion legislation in the Senate, and look forward to a final bill being sent to the President’s desk later this year.”
