Program participants must read the program information including overview, participation requirements, criteria definitions, process, and then submit the program application.

IBM Z Systems

New Requests

  • All new requests for hardware and software discounts for IBM Z Systems will be assessed against program tier criteria once the application is received. There is no automatic software discount or software discount level. The IBM Team will contact you to discuss the assessment.

IBM Business Partner / IBM Sales Team

  • Program participants who decide to proceed with purchasing a new IBM Z System will be connected with an IBM Business Partner or IBM Sales Team if needed.

Software Discount Contracts

  • Software discount contracts for new IBM Z Systems or upgrades will have 36-month term contracts.

Loaned Capacity / Specialty Engines

  • Loaned capacity and/or specialty engines (as applicable) are on a separate loaner contract. Term dates for loaner contracts will be aligned with IBM Z On-Premises Development Program software discount contract term dates.

Agreement to Software Discount Contracts

  • All program participants participating in the program must accept and sign the IBM Customer Relationship agreement (or IBM Customer Agreement) Attachment and Addendum for Developer Discount for IBM Z ("Discount Contract") which define the terms and conditions for the use of the IBM Z software on the development system.

IBM Z System Upgrades

Upgrade of Existing System

  • When a N-1 system becomes N-2, IBM will notify those program participants with N-2 systems to inform them they will have 12 months to upgrade in order to meet the currency requirement. IBM initiates the assessment process at this time to determine the level of participation and corresponding benefits for the upgraded system.

Software Discount Changes

  • Any software discount changes will go into effect with the renewal contract at time of physical machine install. The software discount contract will then be updated to reflect the new level of discount and the discounts adjusted accordingly within IBM's billing system (as appropriate). Program participants whose discounts have changed may see changes in software billings.

Software Discount Contract Term

  • All IBM Z On-Premises Development Program software discount contracts for upgraded IBM Z Systems will have 36 month term contracts.

Software Discount Reduction

  • Program participants whose software discount will be reduced should be working with their IBM Business Partner or IBM Sales Team to identify the products they really need, identify products for Multi-Version Waiver (MVW), and manage their software inventory of licensed products.

Managing Software Product Inventories

  • Program participants are responsible for managing their software inventories (products they ordered and are licensed to) and ensuring the IBM Z On-Premises Development Program software discount contract accurately reflects their software inventory. The software inventory and the IBM Z On-Premises Development Program software discount contract have a direct bearing on any software billings.

zPDT systems

Vetting and Approval

  • Once the IBM Z On-Premises Development Program application is received for a zPDT system, vetting is done to determine if the participant meets the program requirements.

Approved Requests

  • Program participants who are approved for zPDT systems will be directed to contact our OEM provider of zPDT systems - Information Technology Company (ITC)  for pricing, options, ordering, etc.. :

Ongoing participation

Annual Certification

  • All Participants will need to complete an annual certification process to help IBM determine if the participant is meeting the criteria of the program. The Certification process will be initiated by the IBM Z On-Premises Development Program Contract Administrator.

Explain the key benefits and advantages of the product and encourage your audience to explore further by adding a call to action.

IBM Global Solutions Directory (GSD)

  • All participants must update their GSD entries on an annual basis as part of the certification process.

Renewals

  • Program participants who do not need to upgrade will continue on the existing contract until an upgrade will be required.  If the program participant needs to upgrade, the upgrade process is used.
