Unlock the value of your data for an AI and multicloud world using Cloud Pak for Data

While data is an enterprise’s most valuable resource to create competitive advantage, time is a critical component. Companies are often spending weeks trying to find the right data, decoding where it came from and figuring out its accuracy. This happens in every department in the organization, within data science, finance, marketing or operation teams. To overcome these obstacles, data engineers, data scientists and data analysts need to be able to rely on a design which:
eliminates data silos, simplifies data access, uses open standards, increases collaboration efficiency between the various teams that collect, organize and analyze data, improves outcomes with trusted data, thanks to a governance by design principle. Frank Ketelaars will showcase how to accelerate the journey to AI using Cloud Pak for Data and how many of the most frequent barriers to an efficient data organization can be minimized thanks to the use of a data platform. Also he will share lessons learned from past implementations.

Using AI to unlock corporate knowledge

Corporate knowledge is generally stored is lots of formats and data sources. These sources range from spreadsheets and slide decks to text fields in ERP systems. Obtaining access to this knowledge base would be very beneficial for business functions like Customer Service and Product Development. In order to tap into the this huge knowledge base, the first challenge is to obtain one, related view on the information that is available and to be able to retrieve information from that "Body Of Knowledge". The second challenge is to interpret the information to answer questions like "What part of this information is related to a problem and what part is pointing to a solution?

Closing keynote: The new rules of security

The basic assumption of security up until now is that new threats require new tools. We have seen a lot of promising new technology. But in our rapidly diversifying industry, there are more specialized products to face every kind of threat in an expanding universe of attack vectors. It’s not just security products that contribute to the cybersecurity complexity conundrum; digitization, mobility, cloud and the internet of things (IoT) all contribute to the complexity of IT environments, making security an uphill battle for under-resourced security teams. What are the new rules?

Solving the knowledge worker's dilemma

The amount of work is increasing rapidly, and knowledge workers are spending more of their time managing the growing volume, while spending less time solving important problems and leveraging their uniquely human creativity.   In this presentation we will see how to use IBM Digital Business Automation to create business applications and digital workers that automate parts of knowledge workers' activities, ranging from capturing information from unstructured documents to taking decisions using business rules and machine learning, and then taking appropriate action.    Business managers remain in control through guardrails and alerts, while knowledge workers free up their time to add more value to their organizations.

Datacap en Business Automation Content Analyser are IBM tools to digitally process documents. Based on these tools, Novadoc has built a specific application that uses AI to extract the relevant information without time-consuming configuration and training. Information output can be in JSON, HTML or XML. This information can then be used to for instance start business processes or make a booking in a financial system. What sets the solution apart is the way AI is used to read tables and extract values correctly. The presentation will feature a live demonstration.

API Management @ Belgian notaries: Connect To All

FedNot decided mid 2018 to extend its DataPower platform with the IBM API Connect solution. The main drivers were the desire to have a shorter time to market and enhanced (business) insights. The API program was part of a larger transformation program that focusses on the adaption of Fednot to new trends in the market: cloud, mobile, blockchain, consumerization, etc. The API platform is positioned as cornerstone technology to enable this transformation.

We will cover our experience with the setup of the API Management platform. We discuss the business drivers, the organizational impact and the technical challenges. By sharing our experience and insight we hope to give guidance on how to setup an API Platform successfully.

Securing the journey to cloud successful approaches and experiences securing the hybrid multicloud world

In this session we will examine the approaches and learning to date securing the emerging hybrid multi-cloud opportunity. The adoption of cloud technology presents opportunities for organisations, not least by providing flexibility and greater infrastructure and service resiliency thanks to a distributed and state-of-the-art IT architecture. Rolling out an enterprise-wide solution is not without its challenges such as ensuring compliance of cloud with security policies, and moving the enterprise to multiple cloud providers while maintaining the same security posture across the board. We will share experiences including those from other highly regulated and risk sensitive industries and discuss how to create an operating environment that is as, or even more secure in the cloud than it was on-premise.

Modern Development - How containers are changing everything

The rise of containerized applications, the need to deliver on the promise of polyglot microservice architectures and the growth of Kubernetes as the orchestration system of choice are all contributing to a development model that is quite different from the past and which is greatly increasing the amount of expertise and knowledge a developer needs on a daily basis. In this talk hear how containers are also changing the way that developers code, test and deliver. Learn about techniques that are being designed that will help reduce the knowledge burden on developers and are providing development environments more suitable to the new world of Cloud Native.

How to increase customer satisfaction with artificial intelligence in your contact center

We are living in the age of instant communication; so instant that with the tap of a few buttons, we can reach out and contact loved ones, share ideas and receive immediate validation. We’re able to track our food, our drivers, and our packages, and as consumers, we can instantly interact with brands. While that’s an advantage for the public, many industries are entirely transforming to keep up with the pace of communication. A prime example of an industry being completely transformed is the customer service contact center.

Kees van Wijk

Kees van Wijk

Digital Portfolio Manager, Schiphol Telematics

My name is Kees van Wijk, Digital Transformation Manager with a passion for ‘simple’. I believe that the success of any transformation is rooted in genuinely caring about the organization and its people, having a keen interest in technology and keeping things simple and transparent for all stakeholders at all times.
Over the past 25 years, I have done my share of strategic and operational IT leadership, but my true trade is enabling digital transformations like Agility, cloud migrations and setting up data driven organizations. I have run departments of 140 FTE, but also small project teams of 20 FTE. Size does not matter in itself; to me it is just another aspect of complexity. And complexity is what I care about, this is where I shine!
‘Operational excellence’ and the corresponding ‘kaizen’ mentality are in my blood, just like a keen interest in technology and architecture. I am a strategic and analytical thinker, I work from the outside-in and combine these qualities with a ‘getting things done’ mentality, organization talent and firm decisiveness. This allows me to quickly asses situations and reduce complex problems to its essentials; necessary skills when your aim is to transform organisations.
“Keep IT simple” is my business motto and unfortunately I often see organizations who failed to do so and call on me to help them out. Besides all this I am interested in contributing to society at large. I am in the Supervisory Board of Stichting CVO Baarn/Soest and have recently completed a tour on the board of Stichting Do Good Foundation.
