IBM Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS features

Collect performance and statistics data

IBM® Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS allows you to collect samples from the monitored address space and analyzes the system or resource application usage of CPU, DASD, I/O or the total address space. The tool can monitor, analyze and report the performance of CICS, Assembler, COBOL, PL/I, C/C++, Db2, IMS WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Application Server and Java® applications.

Find and fix problems and bottlenecks

The tool gives you the information needed to isolate performance problems in applications and test the effect of increased workloads on your systems. Application Performance Analyzer helps you maximize the performance of your existing applications and improve response time of online transactions and batch turnaround times.

Report and track changes over time

Application Performance Analyzer features online analysis reports that can be created as PDF or XML files, so that you can view them on workstations or transfer them easily to other applications. Evaluate changes in resources, data volume, and applications to get a historical view and for trend analysis.

Support application development, enhancements and debug

The software aids application design, development and maintenance cycles. It helps you evaluate application prototypes in the design phase, review the impact of increased data volume or changes in business requirements on performance, and generate historical data and reports to analyze performance trends and evaluate program changes. Application Performance Analyzer is part of IBM Application Delivery Foundation for z Systems®, a set of tools to create, maintain, and support z/OS applications.
