Past championships

More than 85,000 participants in 1,000 schools across 70 countries have participated in the Master the Mainframe learning. The competition was fierce in the 2016 and 2014 contests. All of our participants gained valuable skills and the finalists walked away with their claim to fame, prizes and some with job offers!

Meet the 2016 contestants

The 2016 Master the Mainframe World Championship included 65 finalists representing 26 countries. The top 10 students competed in a final coding challenge in San Francisco, focused on real world applications with components on analytics, cloud, and mobile utilizing Spark on IBM Z. The top 3 were awarded an all access pass to the IBM Edge event in Las Vegas to present their projects.

Meet the 2014 contestants

The 2014 Master the Mainframe World Championship included 42 finalists representing 22 countries competing for honor, glory, and of course prizes. Global corporate sponsors, including Visa, Metlife, First Citizens Bank, and BB&T Bank, judged the student’s submitted results and provided real world feedback.
