IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS

Streamline the recovery process and reduce the time needed to recover databases by processing data in parallel and recovering database data sets simultaneously. IBM® IMS™ Database Recovery Facility for z/OS® integrates all IMS database software to help you manage IMS full function and high availability large databases (HALDBs) from a single source.

IMS High Performance Change Accumulation

Merge database changes quickly, safely and accurately—and take advantage of a fast process for creating change accumulation groups with parallel processing. An Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) interface makes IMS High Performance Change Accumulation simple to customize, setup and execute. An alternative batch interface is also provided.

IMS Index Builder for z/OS

Streamline index creation, reorganization, maintenance and recovery. This tool creates multiple indexes in one job step. It allows you to rebuild IMS indexes, rather than recover or reorganize them using the traditional unload and reload processes used for the primary data store.

IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS

Achieve rapid database copy and recovery of database data sets. Automated operation takes the database offline before taking a batch image copy and restarts it after the process. Create copies from an IMS standard image copy data set or from a compressed image copy data set. Reduce the number of tapes used by stacking more than one image copy on the same tape and take image backups while reorganization tools are executing.

Utilities and autonomics

Use utilities to unload, load, index build, reorganize, backup, verify and report. Autonomics help maintain health, performance and recoverability. Run load, unload, index building and image copy tasks concurrently and use high speed unloading and prefix resolution for logically related databases.

Simultaneous recovery processing for multiple data sets

Read image copies, logs and change accumulation data sets in parallel, and read each input only once. Help verify availability of data recovery assets during recovery and provide recovery processing for online and batch IMS environments.

Use incomplete change accumulation data sets

Recover shared IMS databases directly from image copies and log data if change accumulation data sets are not available. You can use incomplete change accumulation data sets for recovery if they are the latest copy available. Change accumulation data sets may be used, but are never required before a recovery, even in data sharing environments.

Simple, fast, accurate change management

Reuse your existing IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) processes. Merge the most recent database changes without waiting for logs to be read sequentially or for data groups to run repeatedly. Extract all the latest database updates with one pass of the data. You can maximize the number of parallel processes to run concurrently and also limit the number of parallel processes.

  • IMS Tools Base for z/OS 1.1 and future fix packs
  • Tools Base for z/OS 1.2; 1.3; 1.4 and future fix packs

Hardware requirements

No hardware requirements are specified for IMS Recovery Solutions Pack for z/OS. Hypervisors supported are IBM PR/SM™—any version—and z/VM 6.1.
