A shortage of blood and donors
Someone in your life will need a transfusion: a child fighting cancer, the victim of a car crash, a friend undergoing surgery, a mother giving birth. Their lives depend on it, but the blood supply is often dangerously low.
Only about 3% of the US population donates blood
Every two seconds someone needs blood
A single donation can save up to three lives
The Missing Types campaign
The American Red Cross, in cooperation with corporate partners, is working to restock the blood supply and recruit new blood donors. Between June 11-30, you’ll see organizations across the country pitching in to raise awareness by modifying the letters A, B and O in their logos and signage.
