
Biography for Sue Miller-Sylvia*
Sue Miller-Sylvia is an IBM Fellow and Vice President for Application Innovation Services in GBS. In this role, she is responsible for Partners, Distinguished Engineers, Project Managers, Consultants, Architects and Specialists who lead large complex systems integration projects and are responsible for thought leadership for Emerging Technologies, Application Development, Enterprise Architecture, Interactive Solutions, Enterprise Integration, Business Process Management and Security and Privacy solutions for our clients.
Sue has twenty-two years of experience in information systems design, development and implementation with organizations in the education, government, finance, media & entertainment, aerospace, insurance, retail and travel and transportation industries. Her experience includes practice leadership, application architect, project management, team leadership, application development and database administration. Sue certified as an IBM IT Architect in 1996 and has been an IT Architect Board member for the last 14 years.
Sue has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Masters in Business Administration from University of California, Davis. Prior to IBM, Sue worked at Andersen Consulting and also a small startup company. Sue joined IBM in 1994, and was appointed Distinguished Engineer in 2004. She was elected to the IBM Academy of Technology in 2005 and appointed an IBM Fellow in 2008. Sue is active in mentoring inside and outside IBM, and enjoys all the activities surrounding technical vitality.
