Generative AI is indeed a good technology to reduce the skill barrier in software development, aiding code understanding and completion, and supporting teams in being more efficient in their daily tasks. Yet, this is far from the magic tool enabling the mainframe exit. 

Most mainframe exit projects don't just lead to costly overruns; they threaten business and operational continuity. Adopting a platform-smart approach—carefully assessing workloads and picking the best platform—results in a greater return for most operations.
