Country General Manager Biography

Nik Nesbitt is the Country General Manager, IBM East Africa. Previously, Mr Nesbitt was the founder and CEO of KenCall and has also held various executive roles in markets across Africa, North America and Europe.

He holds an Engineering Sciences degree from Dartmouth College as well as a Masters in Engineering and Business Administration obtained from Thayer College and Stanford University respectively.

Prior to starting KenCall in 2002, Mr Nesbitt had already demonstrated his passion for entrepreneurship by founding other companies. He held senior executive positions in the United States at Qwest Communications, Rhythms, US WEST and Square D. He began his career as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.

Mr Nesbitt has served as a member of the Board of the Central Bank of Kenya and sits or has sat on several other corporate and public sector boards in Kenya, including Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA), AMREF Flying Doctors, Kenya School of Monetary Studies, Multimedia University and Gateway insurance. He is also a Board Member of KEPSA (Kenya Private Sector Alliance) representing the IT sector.

Mr Nesbitt is an active member of the World Economic Forum and other business-related organizations. He has been frequently quoted and profiled in leading global and regional media as an industry leader and visionary and is often invited to be a regular speaker and panelist at conferences in Kenya and globally.

Mr Nesbitt has also received a presidential honor from the Kenyan government, the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW), in recognition of his pioneering spirit and accomplishments in creating the Kenyan BPO industry. He is a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) in Nairobi.
