Multitasking

In addition to the multithreading facilities provided by VTAM® (described in Single-thread or multithread operations), the operating system provides multitasking facilities that can be used when writing a VTAM application program to improve performance and availability. Multitasking can be used to separate communication activity from other activity (such as disk I/O), to divide communication activity among several tasks, or to do both.
