Deployment automation topologies and workflows sample
This sample includes several topologies, automation signatures,
and workflows that illustrate deployment automation. Three separate
projects are provided to illustrate deployment automation with different
automation engines, including Apache Ant, Rational® Build Forge®,
and Rational Automation Framework
for WebSphere®.
Installation time required: 1 minute
- Deployment automation with Apache Ant requires the Apache Ant runtime environment. You can use any version of Apache Ant, but you must make sure that the version of Ant includes the Ant tasks that you want to use.
- Deployment automation requires the IBM® Rational Software Architect Extension for Deployment Automation Planning.
- Deployment automation with Rational Automation Framework for WebSphere requires the IBM Rational Deployment Automation Content Pack for RAFW and WAS.
- To run automated tasks on Rational Build Forge, you must set up a Rational Build Forge console as described in Preparing the environment for automated tasks.
The three projects in this sample
illustrate deployment automation with the following automation engines:
- Apache Ant
- Rational Build Forge by itself
- Rational Build Forge with Rational Automation Framework for WebSphere
The example topologies show how to model automated tasks to run on these automation engines. These automated tasks do things such as install a web server and web application or make modifications to a WebSphere Application Server system.
