Replacing the DVD drive in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system with the system power turned off

To replace the DVD drive in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system, complete the steps in this procedure.

1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
2. If you are replacing the DVD drive as part of another service procedure, go to step 4, otherwise continue with the next step.
3. If you are replacing the failed DVD drive with a new one, find the package that contains the new DVD drive and remove it from the static-protective package.
4. Install the DVD drive.
   1. Align the DVD drive with the media bay, and support the bottom of the drive as you slide it halfway into the system.
   2. Push the DVD drive fully into the system until the device locks in place.
