WebSphere Application Server sensor releases

Instana monitors the WebSphere Application Server applications by using the Instana WebSphere Application Server sensor. The sensor provides insights into the health and performance of applications and services that use WebSphere Application Server.

WebSphere Application Server 1.1.55 is released on 25 June 2026.

Features

The sensor now has a metric that reports thread pool usage as a percentage of the maximum pool size.

WebSphere Application Server 1.1.54 is released on 5 May 2026.

Improvements

This release enhances WebSphere discovery debug logs.

Release 1.1.53

WebSphere Application Server 1.1.53 is released on 25 March 2025.

Fixes

This release resolves an issue where, if the WebSphere Server’s Cell and Node names were null, the searching for the serverindex.xml file stopped and discovery for that WebSphere process was halted.

Release 1.1.52

The sensor now has a metric that reports JDBC connection pool usage as a percentage of the maximum pool size.

WebSphere Application Server 1.1.51 is released on 10 December 2025.

Fixes

The sensor now retains existing WAS PMI counter configurations when enabling the supported PMI counters, instead of overriding them.

This release fixes the JVM version compatibility issue with the Java 6 environment.

Improvements

This release improves the XML parsing in the sensor by preventing the loading of external entities, which caused the sensor to be blocked and disabled by the agent.

Release 1.1.47

WebSphere Application Server sensor 1.1.47 is released on 26 February 2025.

Fixes

Previously, non-WebSphere JVMs were added to the inventory during the discovery process. This issue is now fixed.
