Replacing the rear drive tray assembly in the 8348-21C

Learn how to replace the rear drive tray assembly in the IBM® Power® System S812LC (8348-21C) system.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
  2. Place the rear drive tray assembly into the system, by using the alignment pins. Three pins are located in the chassis for the front of the assembly, three pins are at the back, and two pins are on the side next to the power supplies, as shown in Figure 1.

  3. Connect the drive signal cable (connectors (1) and (2)) to the rear drive tray assembly. Cable (1) plugs into the bottom socket and cable (2) plugs into the top socket, as shown in Figure 2.

    Connect the power cord (A).

  4. Fasten the cables to the side of the rear drive tray assembly by using the cable clip (A). See Figure 3.

  5. Replace the processor air baffle. For instructions, see Replacing the processor baffle in an 8348-21C system.
