To determine the location of the failing item that contains the PCIe switch, complete the following steps:

1. Is a location code available in the serviceable event view for this failing item?
   • Yes: Go to step 4.
   • No: Continue with the next step.
2. To determine the location of the failing item, complete the following steps:
   1. Record the Dynamic Reconfiguration Connector (DRC) index, which is word 7 of the B700xxxx reference code.
   2. The DRC index is of the form xxxxyyyy, where yyyy is the hexadecimal bus number. Using the hexadecimal bus number, go to Card positions to find the location that is associated with this bus number. Then, continue with the next step.
3. Does the location that was identified in the previous step contain a PCIe3 cable adapter that is used to connect the system unit to an EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer?
   • Yes: Trace the expansion drawer cable from the PCIe3 cable adapter that was identified in the previous step to find the I/O module in the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. The I/O module contains the failing PCIe switch and is either in location Un-P1 or Un-P2 of the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. Continue with the next step.
   • No: If the location code obtained in the previous step ends with one or more card labels (-Cx), remove these card labels from the location code to find the field-replaceable unit that contains the failing PCIe switch. Continue with the next step.
4. Is the system managed by a management console?
   • Yes: Use the management console to replace the failing item at the location that was identified in this procedure.
   • No: Continue with the next step.
5. Use the following table to determine the service action to perform.
