Appliance storage

Integrated Analytics System uses two basic types of storage: platform and appliance.

Platform storage:

  • OS level storage, OS commands, libraries. GPFS, Docker
  • Initial installation platform packages, PFS, Docker agent storage
  • Node local storage
    • hard-drive based: RAID1, low capacity
    • fault-domain based: flash based, on all nodes - /data, /local

Appliance storage:

  • Available to all nodes
  • Docker containers as "volumes"
  • Different file systems for different needs of Db2® Warehouse common container
  • /head, /scratch, /data
The storage devices in your appliance depend on the model that you purchase:
  • Rack-mounted models use IBM FlashSystem 900 storage arrays and, optionally, Storwize V5000 disk storage arrays for tiered storage. For more information, see Storage on rack-mounted models.
  • Customer-provided rack model M4002-001 uses NVMe SDD drives for user data and M.2 drives for OS and platform. For more information, see Storage on IAS M4002-001
