Issue fixed in this release
The following issue was fixed in this release:
Cannot upgrade jobs if you are not the pipeline owner
  • Issue: After you publish a pipeline, the UI does not let you upgrade a job to the latest pipeline version if you have access to both the pipeline and the job, but you are not the pipeline owner.
  • Resolution: If you have access to both the pipeline and the job, you can upgrade a job to the latest pipeline version.

IBM Software Hub Version 5.2.1

A new version of IBM StreamSets was released in August 2025 with IBM Software Hub 5.2.1.

Operand version: 6.2.1

This release includes the following changes:

New features
This release of IBM StreamSets includes the following features:
Write data to IBM watsonx.data™
When you deploy a Data Collector engine version 6.3.1, you can use the new IBM watsonx.data destination to write data to IBM watsonx.data.
For a full list of the new features, see 6.3.x Release Notes in the IBM StreamSets documentation.
Run data processing pipelines on Apache Spark
If you have the IBM StreamSets Cartridge for Apache Spark Add On license, you can deploy a Transformer engine.

With a Transformer engine, you can run data processing pipelines on Apache Spark. Because the pipelines run on Spark deployed on a cluster, the pipelines can complete set-based transformations such as joins, aggregates, and sorts on the entire data set.

For more information about enabling the Transformer engine, see Post-installation tasks in the IBM StreamSets documentation.
Updates
The following updates were introduced in this release:
  • When the preview record schema that is saved for a pipeline or fragment reaches an excessive size, Control Hub removes the saved schema when you publish, export, or upgrade the pipeline or fragment.

Previously, a saved schema of excessive size caused a publish, export, or upgrade of the pipeline or fragment to fail.

  • The scheduled task details page displays the ID of a scheduled task. You can use this ID to help identify the task.
Issues fixed in this release
The following issues were fixed in this release:
Cannot create a Kubernetes environment
  • Issue: You cannot create a Kubernetes environment because no agent version displays in the Configure the Environment step of the environment wizard.
  • Resolution: You can select an agent version and successfully create a Kubernetes environment.
Installing IBM StreamSets might fail when a cluster uses self-signed certificates
  • Issue: When the Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform cluster uses self-signed certificates, installing IBM StreamSets on IBM Software Hub might fail.
  • Resolution: You can successfully install IBM StreamSets on IBM Software Hub when the cluster uses self-signed certificates.
Cannot access the IBM StreamSets service due to an HTTP 404 page not found error
  • Issue: When you open the IBM StreamSets service from IBM Software Hub, the web browser displays an HTTP 404 page not found error.
  • Resolution: When you open the IBM StreamSets service, the IBM StreamSets system administrator tool successfully opens in a new browser tab.
Cannot upgrade IBM StreamSets version 5.1.3 to version 5.2.0
  • Issue: When you upgrade IBM StreamSets version 5.1.3 to version 5.2.0, the upgrade process encounters several issues and fails.
  • Resolution: You can successfully upgrade IBM StreamSets version 5.1.3 to version 5.2.1.
Upgrading a pipeline without an associated job causes an error when you update runtime parameters
  • Issue: Upgrading a pipeline that does not have an associated job causes an error when you try to update runtime parameters.
  • Resolution: You can successfully update runtime parameters for an upgraded pipeline that does not have an associated job.
Pipeline validation icon might be unavailable
  • Issue: The Validate icon might not appear when the pipeline definition is invalid.
  • Resolution: The Validate icon is now available even if the pipeline definition is invalid.
Cannot import, update, or upgrade pipelines with empty labels
  • Issue: You can't import, update, or upgrade pipelines that contain empty labels or labels made up of only space characters.
  • Resolution: Empty labels and labels made up of only space characters are automatically removed from all existing pipelines. They are also removed from new pipelines when the pipeline is updated, upgraded, or imported.
Expression completion does not always provide the expected expression elements
  • Issue: Expression completion does not provide the expected fields, functions, or other expression elements in certain stages, such as the HTTP Client origin or Expression Evaluator processor.
  • Resolution: Expression completion provides the expected fields, functions, or other expression elements for all stages.
Pipeline with a parameter defined multiple times causes errors in job details
  • Issue: When a pipeline includes a parameter that is defined multiple times, errors can occur when you try to view the details for an associated job.
  • Resolution: You can successfully view the associated job details.
Incorrect formatting for an SFTP/FTP/FTPS connection using the plain-text private key authentication method
  • Issue: When you configure an SFTP/FTP/FTPS connection to use the plain-text private key authentication method, the key line breaks are not maintained, causing the key value to have an incorrect format.
  • Resolution: The connection maintains the key line breaks.
Cannot change the authoring Data Collector for a draft pipeline in some situations
  • Issue: When you edit a draft pipeline but do not have access to the currently selected authoring Data Collector, a missing baseVersionStr error message displays when you attempt to change the authoring Data Collector.
  • Resolution: You can successfully change the authoring Data Collector for a draft pipeline even when you do not have access to the currently selected authoring Data Collector.
