Network Restrictions

The Network Restrictions settings restrict network settings and roaming settings on an Android device.

Network settings

The following table describes the network restrictions that you can configure on an Android device:
Policy setting Description Supported devices
Allow emergency calls only The device is used for emergency calls only. SAFE 2.0+
Allowlisted SSIDs The device uses only specific SSIDs to connect to the network from the internet.

Note: To prevent disruption to a network connection, do not enter SSIDs that are invalid.

Blocklisted SSIDs The SSIDs that are not allowed to connect to the network from the internet. SAFE 2.2+
Wi-Fi network minimum security level The minimum level of security that is allowed on a wifi network that the device connects to. SAFE 2.0+
Allow user to add Wi-Fi networks The user can add wifi networks that the device can connect to.

This setting is disabled in the policy if one or more wifi profiles are defined in the policies.

Allow SMS and MMS The device can use SMS and MMS as incoming only, outgoing only, all SMS, all MMS, or none. SAFE 3.0+

Roaming settings

The following table describes the roaming restrictions that you can configure on an Android device:

Allow data roaming If a device is outside the cellular carrier's operating area, the user can still use data roaming options on the device. Android 2.2+
Allow sync during roaming If a device is outside the cellular carrier's operating area, the device can still synchronize with the server to update data on the device. SAFE 1.0+
Allow voice roaming If a device is outside the cellular carrier's operating area, the user can still make phone calls from the device. SAFE 3.0+
