Installing Database Clients
Whether you are using Oracle database or DB2 database, you must install the corresponding database clients on the Cognos and InfoSphere DataStage servers.
Refer to the following table to determine which database client must be installed.
Note:
- For the Oracle database, install the full client and not the instant client.
- If you install InfoSphere DataStage with the built-in DB2 metadata repository, the default DB2 client that is installed is 10.5 fix pack 2. To run the ETL jobs, you must install the DB2 client 10.5 with fix pack 5 separately. You must also configure the environmental variables and dsenv file for the DB2 client 10.5 fix pack 5 before you run the ETL jobs.
