Configuring the IBM HTTP Server

Configure the IBM® HTTP Server as a reverse proxy server to route Connections Docs, File Viewer, and Conversion requests to the appropriate servers.

About this task

Every time when you automatically or manually regenerate or re-propagate the configuration file plugin-config.xml for Web Server, remember to update the web server configuration of the proxy server. Run update-webserver.bat -acceptLicense(Windows) or update-webserver.sh -acceptLicense(Linux) that is located in the proxy server installation directory, for example, C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\DocsProxy\proxy\installer, or /opt/IBM/ConnectionsDocs/IBMDocs/proxy/installer.

To make sure the HTTP server is configured correctly, verify that you can get the version, for example:
  • http://DocsLab01.renovations.com/docs/version.txt, where DocsLab01.renovations.com is the IBM HTTP Server for Connections Docs.
  • http://DocsLab01.renovations.com/conversion/version.txt, where DocsLab01.renovations.com is the IBM HTTP server for the Conversion application.
  • http://DocsLab01.renovations.com/viewer/version.txt, where DocsLab01.renovations.com is the IBM HTTP server for File Viewer.

For Proxy server, check the log file at: <SERVER_NAME>/logs/DocsProxyMember1/ and <WAS_ROOT>/AppServer/profiles/<SERVER_NAME>/logs/DocsProxy1/

    It is possible to configure the IBM HTTP Server to increase performance of the Connections Docs editors. This might have been done when the IBM HTTP Server was deployed, but if not, complete the following steps:
  2. Changing Http(s) Ports for nonAdmin
    To configure correct http(s) ports, do the steps as described in this topic.
  3. Changing settings when you only have SSL enabled on the IBM HTTP Server
    You must change settings if you only have SSL enabled on the IBM HTTP Server.
  4. Restarting the IBM HTTP servers
    Once the configuration steps are completed for the IBM HTTP servers, the servers must be restarted to pick up the changes.
