Running IBM Z Discovery and ingesting CI
This topic describes how to run IBM Z® Discovery application and ingest CI.
Procedure
-
The CI from System Z are ingested through ServiceNow Flow. To access ServiceNow Flow:
- Search for and launch Flow Designer.

- Select IBM as filter, and select IBM Z Discovery Scheduled Flow.
- The IBM Z Discovery Scheduled Flow runs every 2 hours. Click
Test to run the flow manually.
The scheduled flow job handles the ingestion of non‑JCL CIs, non‑JCL CI relationships, and JCL CIs.
Important:The IBM Z Discovery Scheduled Flow includes a built‑in validation step to confirm that data migration from custom classes to out‑of‑the‑box classes has completed successfully. This check is enabled by default, and the IBM Z Discovery Scheduled Flow will not continue unless the validation passes.
To disable this migration check, in ServiceNow, navigate to sys_properties.list, locate the property x_ibmg3_ibm_zsyste.flow_migration_1.6.0_check_enabled, set its value to false, and click Update.

- Search for and launch Flow Designer.
- You can view the ServiceNow CI in the tables of the IBM Z Discovery application.
- Search for IBM Z

The following CIs are available: Mainframe, Mainframe zOS Cluster, Mainframe LPAR, zOS Server, Db2 for zOS, Db2 Cluster for zOS, Db2 Database, Db2 Stored Procedure, CICS Region for zOS, CICS transaction, IMS for zOS, IMS Database, IMS Sysplex Group, IMS Transaction, IP Address, MQ Manager for zOS, MQ Queue Sharing Group, MQ Queue, MQ Local Queue, Remote Queue, Model Queue, Alisa Queue, Storage Subsystem, Executable for zOS, JCL for zOS, JCL Job for zOS, and JCL Procedure for zOS.Note: IP address information is displayed only if IP address synchronization is enabled.
