Determine the best remote control panel configuration for
your environment.
Use the following information to help configure your remote control
panel environment.
- The local console on a network (LAN) no longer selects the remote
control panel by default. If you want to use the remote control panel,
use Properties to select the function.
- You must use a Hardware Management Console (HMC) to manage logical
partitions. This means that you cannot use the remote control panel
to activate a logical partition, and you cannot directly connect a
remote control panel cable to the server. To work with logical partitions
remotely, see Logical partition overview.
- The remote control panel is unavailable in a configuration where
the device ID is not authorized. After the configuration is authorized,
it is displayed in the Properties screen the
next time you connect.
