Removing the bracing bracket

Use this procedure to remove the bracket that is used to brace the 5802 or 5877 expansion unit.

There are two parts in the bracket assembly used to stabilize the 5802 or 5877 expansion unit during shipment of the rack that contains the enclosure. The bracket assembly consists of a large shipping bracket that attaches to the rack frame and a smaller retention bracket that secures the shipping bracket to the 5802 or 5877 expansion unit.

Prerequisite: A medium size screwdriver is required to complete this task.

To remove the bracing bracket assembly, follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the captive thumbscrew on the retention bracket (B) that secures the shipping bracket (A) to the 5802 or 5877 expansion unit. Remove the retention bracket.

  2. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws (C) that attach the shipping bracket (A) to the left and right flanges of the rack frame. Lift the bracket out and away from the rack frame.
Tip: Save all of the bracket parts that you have removed for any future reinstallation and for shipping of the 5802 or 5877 expansion unit that might be required.
