Create a Delete Request

Use this task to create a Delete Request. A Delete Request is a set of specifications that determines how the Delete Process deletes data.

To create a Delete Request:

  1. In the main window, click File > New > Delete from the menu to open the Delete Request Editor.
  2. Specify the Source File Type.
  3. Specify the name of a Source File and a Control File.
  4. Specify Process Options to complete the Delete Request.

These steps are the minimum required to create a Delete Request. After you create a Delete Request, you can run the process immediately, or save the request and schedule it. Because the options to create and modify a Delete Request are similar, see Using the Delete Request Editor for complete details.

Alternate Path

An alternate method for opening the Delete Request Editor is to click Actions > Delete in the main window. By default, the last Delete Request you edited is shown.

Your next step depends on your purpose:

  • To create a new Delete Request, click File > New in the Delete Request Editor.
  • To create a new Delete Request modeled on an existing one, open the desired Delete Request and click File > Save As in the Delete Request Editor.
  • To create and store a copy of the active Delete Request and continue editing, click File > Save Copy As in the Delete Request Editor.
