Creating nicknames

To access data source objects, you must create nicknames for them.

Before you begin

Configure the federated system to access the data source.

Ensure that a server definition for the data source server on which the object is located exists in the federated database.

Ensure that you have the following authorities and privilege:
  • SYSADM or DBADM authority
  • IMPLICIT_SCHEMA authority on the federated database, if the implicit or explicit schema name of the nickname does not exist
  • CREATEIN privilege on the schema, if the schema name of the nickname exists

Procedure

Use one of the following methods:

  • Command line:

    Issue the CREATE NICKNAME statement.

  • Web console:
    1. Click Administer > Remote Tables.
    2. Click Create.
    3. Click Add nicknames.
