Preparing to install the base package on Linux and UNIX systems

Complete these steps to prepare your Linux® or UNIX 64-bit operating system for the installation of the base package.

Procedure

  1. Log on as a root user on the system where you want to install the base package.
  2. Create a user who has the role of a Collector Server administrator.
The Collector Server administrator installs the base package and completes all migration and configuration tasks. This user runs the Collector Server instances and secures and monitors the Content Collector for SAP environment. The user does not need any administrator rights.
  3. Add the following entries to the /etc/services file:
    sapdpxy 32xy/tcp
    sapgwxy 33xy/tcp

xy represents the SAP system number. You find this number in the table in the SAP Logon window.

If the SAP system number is 00, for example, you must add the following entries:
    sapdp00 3200/tcp
    sapgw00 3300/tcp
Note: You might have a firewall between the system where SAP or the repository is installed and the system where the base package is to be installed. In this case, you must specify firewall rules so that the ports that are defined in the /etc/services file, can be accessed.
