Searching for business objects (Advanced Search)

With advanced search, you can search for values in one or more specific properties, and you can limit the search by selecting a fraud context or a single business object type to search on. Advanced search works with numeric properties.

About this task

You can use the asterisk (*) wildcard character to replace characters in the search term for string properties only.

Table 1. Wildcard Search Examples
Entering this search string Returns these values
Jose* Jose, Joseph, Josephina
*Jose DuJose, Jose, SanJose
*os* Amos, boss, dosage, Jose, Joseph, Josephina, Moses, moss

You can create complex searches as needed. For example, you can search for Account business objects with a Start Date between a specific start date and time and a specific end date and time, and only in the Wire fraud context. Or, you can search for an ID value equal to a specific number.

Procedure

To search for business objects with Advanced Search:

  1. Click Hamburger icon Menu in the title bar and then click Business Object Search.
  2. In the Business Object Search page, click Advanced Search. The Advanced Search settings are displayed.
  3. Select a fraud context by clicking the down arrow for the Select fraud context list and then click a context name. The available business object properties depend on the fraud context. For example, click Default Context or click Wire.
  4. Select a business object type by clicking the down arrow for the Business object type. For example, click Accounts to search on account business objects only.
  5. Add one or more business object properties and set the criteria.
    1. Click the down arrow for the Business object property and then select a property.
    2. Click Add Property. A property criteria section is added.
    3. Select an operator and value for the property. The available operators and value types depend on the property type. For string properties, you can use the asterisk (*) wildcard character to replace characters in the search term. The search is case-sensitive.
Tip: Use the Like operator and the wildcard character for case-insensitive searches.
    4. Repeat as needed to add more properties and values. The property criteria are ANDed. That is, only items that match all of the criteria are returned.
  6. Click Search. The view is updated with the items that match your search criteria. If no items match, then a message is displayed. By default, the results are displayed in Card view. You can change to another view or filter the types of objects that are displayed.
  7. Optional: Select items and take action.
    1. Select the Check circle button next to objects that you want. You can select multiple items in the results, and you can scroll and page through the results to make selections.
Note: Keep in mind that there might be copies of source-owned business objects in the search results. These copies are identified by the Editable copy icon Editable copy icon.
    2. Click More Actions and select an action from the menu.
  8. To close the Search Business Objects page, click Menu in the title bar and then click In-Baskets.
