WebSphere commerce integration

WebSphere commerce integration provides you with an enterprise service based integration that can be leveraged to fast track your time to implement.

WebSphere commerce provides a complete solution to customers who require robust front-end and back-end selling and order management capabilities. While both systems have inventory, order, pricing, and promotion components, this integration uses an optimal combination of each. The integration manages the order lifecycle across channels, from capture to fulfillment. Implementing these components is simplified, because much of the integration is supplied for you. This solution enables you to use the strengths of the leading commerce platform, with appropriate touch points into the system. This accelerator includes out of the box integration in the following areas:
Order

Integration is provided to reserve inventory on Sterling Order Management during check out flow, to transfer the WebSphere® Commerce order to Sterling Order Management and for WebSphere commerces to retrieve historical orders from Sterling Order Management.

Inventory

Integration is provided to populate Websphere commerce inventory cache based on Sterling Order Management Real-time Availability Monitor output. In addition, for Store Pick up scenarios, real time calls to Sterling Order Management for inventory availability are enabled.

Pricing and promotion

Integration is provided for Sterling Order Management to leverage pricing and promotion calculation using WebSphere commerce.

The Order, Inventory, and Pricing and Promotion components communicate through the IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, which translates calls and services from one system to the other. Many requests from WebSphere commerce are direct calls to Sterling Order Management. Others are dropped into a JMS message queue. These queues are continually monitored by Sterling Order Management, which retrieves the requests, processes them, and sends the results back through another message queue that is being monitored by WebSphere commerce.

As a result, this integration handles inventory operations and order creation from a web online store, a call center, or a physical store. Inventory checks, reservations, and cancellations are done seamlessly. Because configuration mappings are supplied, customers can easily set up pricing rules, promotions, coupons, and discounts that are interpreted consistently across the integration.

It provides easy-to-use tools for business users to centrally manage a cross-channel strategy. Business users can create and manage precision marketing campaigns, promotions, catalog, and merchandising across all sales channels. WebSphere commerce is a single, unified platform which offers the ability to do business directly with consumers or directly with businesses, and indirectly through channel partners (indirect business models). WebSphere commerce is a customizable, scalable, and high availability solution built to leverage open standards.
