Contract Lines
A contract can include one or more tables that contain the tabular data for the contract. These tables are called lines.
Definition
Lines represent transaction information for purchase, sales, or other transactions and include the product and price information.
Use the Contract Editor Lines tab to manage line definitions, line clauses, and lines. The Contract Editor Lines tab represents the lines functionality on three tabs: Instances, Definitions, and Clauses.
Line definitions
To add lines to a contract, a line definition must first be created. Line definitions can be created from the Administration tab by users with the requisite permissions. Emptoris® Contract Management also provides some standard line definitions. For more information, see Line Definitions.
Line clauses
A line definition can have a line clause template that refers to it. The data definitions for the line clause template are a subset of the data definitions included in the line definition. A line definition can have many line clause templates. When a line definition is included in a contract, one or more of the line clauses for that definition can be included in the contract.
To include line data in the contract language, you must add a line clause template to the language of the contract for authored or received contract or amendment. Each line clause template can be configured to show or hide the data definitions in the contract language.
Line Instances
A line instance or a line is a row of data for a line clause. Consider the following points for line instances.
- A line definition can have default line instances. These line instances are copied to a contract instance when the line definition is a part of the contract.
- You can edit or delete the default line instances in the contract instance.
- You can add lines for the line definition.
Emptoris Contract Management supports up to 20,000 lines for authored contract creation by using a web service. This support is available in the Emptoris Contract Management standalone and Emptoris Contract Management-Emptoris Sourcing integrated environments. However, for lines with long text type data definitions, the line support can be limited up to 10,000 lines only.
