I Do Not Want to Receive Messages

If you do not want to be interrupted by messages while you are working at your terminal, enter this command:

SET MSG OFF

This command can be entered on the CMS command line, the FILELIST large arrow command line, or the XEDIT large arrow command line. Now, you will not receive messages from other users.

If you decide later that you do want to receive messages, enter this command:

SET MSG ON

The SET MSG OFF command is good for one terminal session only. When you log off, it is canceled automatically.

Note: If you try to send a message to someone who has used a SET MSG OFF command, you will receive a message telling you that person is not receiving messages.
