Data Space Exploitation (SFS Only)
The ESA/XC and z/XC virtual machine architectures have a
facility called data spaces (introduced in VM/ESA version 1 release 1.1).
SFS can exploit data
spaces to improve the performance of directory control directories. If you have directories that
meet these criteria: - Seldom updated
- Accessed in read-only mode
- Accessed by many users on the local system
Note: If you want to exploit data spaces, you must make
sure that all FBA user storage group minidisks are aligned on 4KB
boundaries. See Restrictions for Using Data Spaces on FBA Minidisks for details on aligning FBA
minidisks on 4KB boundaries.
