Purpose

Use QUERY VIRTUAL PAV to display information about the Parallel Access Volume (PAV) devices and the HyperParallel Access Volume (HyperPAV) devices accessible to your virtual machine.

Operands

ALL: tells CP to display a list of all PAV and HyperPAV devices accessible to your virtual machine.
vdev
vdev1-vdev2: is the virtual device address of the device for which you want PAV or HyperPAV information. You can specify a single device address, a range of device addresses, or any combination.

Usage Notes

Use the QUERY VIRTUAL vdev DETAILS command or the QUERY VIRTUAL DASD DETAILS command to display all the virtual alias Parallel Access Volumes associated with a particular virtual base Parallel Access Volume.

Responses

Response 1:

If you enter QUERY V PAV 300, and virtual device 300 is a dedicated PAV base device, you see a response like this:

This response tells you that virtual PAV base 300 is defined on dedicated real PAV base E100 with label RWS001.

Response 2:

If you enter QUERY V PAV 4300, and virtual device 4300 is a dedicated HyperPAV base device, you see a response like this:

If you enter QUERY V PAV 301, and virtual device 301 is a dedicated PAV alias device, you see a response like this:

This response tells you that virtual PAV alias 301 is defined on dedicated real PAV alias E149 with label RWS001. It also tells you that alias 301 is associated with PAV base 300.

If you enter QUERY V PAV 4301, and virtual device 4301 is a dedicated HyperPAV alias device, you see a response like this:
