QUERY STP

Read syntax diagramSkip visual syntax diagram Query STP

Authorization

Privilege Class: B

Purpose

Use QUERY STP to display Server Time Protocol status.

Responses

Response 1:

If you issue the QUERY STP command and the Server Time Protocol facility has not been installed on your machine, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol facility not installed

Response 2:

If you issue the QUERY STP command and the Server Time Protocol facility is installed but not enabled for use, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol facility not enabled

Response 3:

If the STP facility is installed and enabled, but STP has not been enabled from the system configuration file, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol available but not enabled for CP use

Response 4:

If STP is enabled but CP has been unable to synchronize with the STP server and XRC_OPTional has not been specified in the system configuration file, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol activation has not completed.
I/O to XRC-capable DASD will be delayed until activation completes.

Response 5:

If STP is enabled but CP has been unable to synchronize with the STP server but XRC_OPTional was specified in the system configuration file, you will receive the following response
Server Time Protocol activation has not completed.
I/O to XRC-capable DASD will be issued without timestamps until
activation completes.

Response 6:

If STP_Timestamping is enabled and CP has successfully synchronized with STP, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol synchronization activated for timestamping

Response 7:

If QUERY STP is issued while VM is responding to an STP synchronization check, and XRC_OPTional was not specified in the system configuration, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol synchronization suspended.
I/O to XRC-capable DASD will be delayed until synchronization completes.

Response 8:

If QUERY STP is issued while VM is responding to an STP synchronization check, but XRC_OPTional was specified in the system configuration, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol synchronization suspended.
I/O to XRC-capable DASD will be issued without timestamps until
synchronization completes.

Response 9:

If XRC_TEST has been specified, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol disabled: Timestamping enabled without
a synchronized clock source for testing purposes.

Response 10:

If STP has been enabled without timestamping support (for example, with the STP_TZ statement) and CP has successfully synchronized with STP, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol synchronization activated.

Response 11:

If STP has been enabled without timestamping support (for example, with the STP_TZ statement) and CP is currently responding to an STP synchronization check, you will receive the following response:
Server Time Protocol synchronization suspended.
